Major name Bliss Hotels has been able to secure a new £15m injection of funding that will enable it to carry out its plans to refurbish its existing hotel site in Southport.
The news is a huge boost to the area, with the 133-bedroom Ramada Plaza Hotel being one of the most prominent features in the area, the key presence in The Waterfront leisure area, which is also home to a conference centre, a theatre and a casino.
Many solicitors in the Southport area were interested in taking on such a legal undertaking, but in the end the Bliss Hotel owners went with their chosen option, which turned out to be a successful move as it secured this much needed finance for the Bliss Investment Partners.
This funding will not only do much needed refurbishment on the hotel itself to make it one of the leading options in the entire region, but it will also allow them to do further work across the site.
The move was obviously welcomed with much enthusiasm by Bliss Hotel co-founder Daniel Broch, who shared; “What a moment for Southport and Bliss Hotel; our shared vision’s about to become a reality fuelled by the enthusiasm and excitement of all those involved – creating anything from scratch is hugely inspiring and challenging. We’re aiming high.” Broch himself has a great deal of experience in leisure and entertainment, as he is also one of the primary figures behind the Everyman Cinema chain.
Jez Marvin who is a key figure at architecture practice Unwin Jones Partnership, who are handling much of the redevelopment, added: “The Bliss Hotel project and Waterfront regeneration represents a fantastic opportunity for Southport, the North West and for all involved.
It is a great boost in terms of jobs, architecture and tourism. Bliss has assembled a team full of talent, ideas and energy – we are looking forward to creating something truly amazing together.”
Kevin Potter, who has the role of finance director within Bliss Investment Partners, stated; “Our solicitors led all of the vital legal aspects in acquiring the Waterfront for Bliss Hotel two years ago and they did an exceptional job.
We therefore had no hesitation in engaging their services for this project and possible future projects. Their team has worked tirelessly to help achieve our ambitions.”
Melissa Loucas, who is a partner at the legal firm involved, shared; “I am delighted that we have been able to secure this financing arrangement to help unlock this major redevelopment project for Southport. It was a pleasure working with Kevin Potter and team again and we wish them the greatest success with their planned expansion drive.”
